Bear Aware changes its name and focus

One of B.C.’s leading wildlife watch organizations is re-structuring to focus on more animals.

The Bear Aware organization will now go by the name Wild Safe, and will now deal with cougars, coyotes and deer, as well as bears.

As part of its new strategy, the group has launched a new web-based map.

The wildlife alert and reporting program pinpoints the locations of wildlife conflicts throughout the province.

Right now, the map is updated weekly, but once the software is updated, it will post reports within an hour or two.
