Cameco Touchdown for Dreams grants Saskatoon woman’s wish

SASKATOON – For the second year Cameco Touchdown for Dreams is granting five dreams to women with a life-threatening diagnosis of cancer.

Today the program made a dream come true for a Saskatoon woman with lung cancer by giving her a new car.

Tracy Doell has been given a life expectancy of 8 to 19 months. The 42-year-old is battling incurable stage 4 lung cancer.

“Every day when you have cancer it can be filled with trauma and if you have a moment for a bit of escapism something like this can do that for the ladies and I’ll be brave with my story so others can be brave with theirs,” said Doell.

Tracy wants to experience retirement now. Her very first car was a Ford Mustang and her dream is to have another one.

Her husband was willing to take out life savings to make that dream come true but that didn’t have to happen.

The Cameco Touchdown for Dreams program granted Doell’s wish and named her this year’s ambassador.

“Tracy was an absolute slam dunk choice for this year and to be our ambassador. Her story’s incredibly touching and it’s a story I think will resonate with so many people in Saskatchewan,” said Jonathan Huntington, Cameco’s community investment manager.

Tracy will deliver the keynote address at tonight’s fundraising gala and will be at Mosaic Stadium in October for the Saskatchewan Roughriders pink game as ambassador.
