SAINT-BASILE, N.B. – An Ontario motorist has died in a single-vehicle crash in northwestern New Brunswick.

RCMP say the man’s car hit a guard rail Saturday night and flipped on the Trans-Canada Highway near Saint-Basile.

Police say the driver was a 56-year-old man from Trenton, Ont., but they did not release his name.

His 53-year-old passenger, also from Trenton, was taken to hospital.

She is expected to recover from her injuries.

The Mounties say heavy rain at the time may have been a contributing factor.
