In a news release, organizers say this year’s show will have “one of the most diverse range of acts in Sonic Boom history.”
“We’re thrilled to expand the BOOM to two days of pure modern rock,” said program director, Al Ford. “Every year, we try to bring something for everyone. This year has everything from modern rock staples like Weezer and Blink to bands some people are just discovering like Family of the Year and Passion Pit. I really couldn’t think of a better way to spend a long weekend.”
This is the fifth year for the festival.
“Boom is much bigger this year than it has been in previous years,” said Bryce Kelly, from Sonic 102.9
“Since we started doing Sonic Boom with Sonic five years ago, we’ve seen it become one of the biggest, most popular music events, I think, in Western Canada,” added The Union’s Dave Johnston.
“We went for quantity and size this year,” he said.
“One day was just not enough.”
