Toronto police say a man is dead following an early morning shooting in North York.
Officers responded just after 5 a.m. Sunday to the area of Weston Road and Toryork Drive, just north of Weston Road and Finch Avenue West.
Investigators said the victim was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Det. Sgt. Terry Browne said it’s estimated 100 people were in the area at the time due to a nearby after-hours party, but it is unknown if the victim was participating in the event before the shooting occurred.
“We believe it was a single gun shot involved in this incident,” he said, but would not go into the specifics of the victim’s injuries.

Police said they don’t believe the victim was shot anywhere else besides where he was found, and are continuing to canvass the scene for more information.
Browne urges people who were in the area to provide police with information, as officers say they have not received many details so far.
“You have a moral obligation to do what is expected in a community,” he told media at the scene. “Contact us, tell us what you know, tell us what you don’t know so we have something to be able to narrow our narrative on what may or may not have occurred to this man.”
One business owner in the area tells Global News that an after-hours party isn’t unheard of on weekends in the industrial area.
“I guess when (people) club elsewhere, they come here and hang out, as far as I know,” Mark James said.
He said it’s a vacant building that doesn’t have much going on there except for the weekends.
