VERNON, BC — Boaters beware of a marine hazard in Okanagan Lake.
The hazard is a storm pipe that has floated to the surface below Tavistock near Adventure Bay.
The City of Vernon says the storm outfall pipe has been marked with buoys.

“We don’t know how close the rest of pipe is to the surface at this time,” says Ed Stanks, Manager of Engineering. “We are in the process of investigating that. The City is requesting that boaters exercise caution and stay away from the area until works are complete. Boaters should especially watch out between the shore and where the pipe is floating at the surface and go well around the pipe.”
Stanks says a diving company has been hired to inspect the pipe.
