PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. – A 29-year-old Nova Scotia man has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for a violent sexual assault against a woman in Port Hawkesbury.
Justin Christopher Miller of Florence pleaded guilty last year to aggravated sexual assault for the attack on Aug. 28, 2010.

Miller followed the victim as she walked through the town in the early morning hours before grabbing her and assaulting her.
The victim suffered facial fractures and cuts, scrapes and bruises to her face, arms, legs and back, and some bruising around the neck.
In her victim impact statement, the woman said she is constantly looking over her shoulder and is terrified to walk alone when it is dark.
In a sentencing decision released Tuesday, provincial Supreme Court Judge Cindy Bourgeois gave Miller credit of almost 29 months for time already served, which reduces his sentence to nine years and seven months.
