John Poole, 59, is believed to have fallen from his fishing boat into the icy waters of Shuswap Lake on April 30th.

His boat – still in gear and with fishing lines trailing — was found beached at Eagle Bay the next day.

An exhaustive search by RCMP and Search and Rescue was unable to find Poole.

But the victim’s stepson,  Josh Crittenden, says a request to Gene and Sandy Ralston to bring their specialized sidescan sonar system to search the vast deep lake resulted in success Monday.

The body was brought to the surface by RCMP divers.

The Ralston’s spent almost a week looking for Poole – a search they mounted immediately after they found two Langley teens missing in Nicola Lake.
