In true British fashion, Ladies Day brought out some incredible millinery at the Royal Ascot. A new, much stricter dress code was controversially introduced this year. It included rules as to the length of dresses, the width of hat brims (“headpiece with a base of four inches or more”) and the covering of body parts (midriffs, clavicles and backs). Many styles seemed to channel the post-war era. Here’s a glimpse of hats from the first few days.
