TORONTO – A number of Canadian stars lost their jobs this week as the U.S. networks axed dozens of shows.

ABC announced this week it is pulling the plug on Calgary native Elisha Cuthbert’s series Happy Endings after three seasons.

“Sooooooooo, this has been an interesting week…. Weekend anyone?,” Cuthbert tweeted late Friday. (Her fiancé is Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf.)

The network also cancelled the brand new comedy How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life starring Ottawa’s Sarah Chalke.

Arnett’s new comedy The Millers has been picked up by CBS.

The peacock network also cancelled Smash and The New Normal.

CBS is killing CSI: NY, whose cast includes Montreal native Robert Joy, and Vegas, which stars Carrie-Anne Moss of Vancouver.

Also gone from the network are Golden Boy and Rules of Engagement.

Toronto-raised Kiefer Sutherland’s Touch was cancelled by Fox.

Some Canadian stars have reason to celebrate, though.

The drama Killer Women, starring Alberta’s Tricia Helfer, was picked up by ABC in addition to the comedy Mixology, starring Montreal’s Vanessa Lengies.

Edmonton-born, Burnaby-raised Michael J. Fox’s eponymous show has added to the NBC schedule.
