HALIFAX — Police are investigating damage to a Fairview church that was peppered with several dozen glass marbles on Monday.

On Monday at 8:30 pm staff of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on Alma Crescent discovered their front window was shattered by marbles.

Police spokesperson Cst. Pierre Bourdages says the marbles could have been thrown or a sling shot or similar device could have been used.

Bourdages says the damage occurred sometime between 1 am early Monday morning and 8 pm.

“There are bullet holes all over,” say the church’s pastor Simeon Olugbile. “The bullets went through and broke the ceiling of the church office.”

Olugbile doesn’t have any suspects.

“I’m not looking at anyone in particular,” says the pastor.

Investigators checked surveillance video from the area but didn’t find anything on the footage.

Police are examining the marbles for fingerprints and canvassing the area.

“It’s unusual that someone would target a church in that manner,” says Bourdages.

The Pentecostal church, with a parish of five or six families, will remain open this week.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
