CP Rail bridge damaged by fire in Revelstoke

The Revelstoke Fire Department was called out to fight a fire on a CP Rail bridge in Revelstoke just after 7 p.m. Saturday night.

CP spokesperson, Kevin Hrysak, said the fire was on the east side of the Columbia River and about two railcar lengths in size.

Fire crews and a helicopter were called to contain the blaze and the fire was extinguished by 9 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The bridge was repaired on Sunday afternoon and traffic was able to resume across the bridge by about 5 p.m.
