2 face charges following reported theft in Barrie: police

Barrie police located and charged a 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old-woman for theft under $5,000 in connection to a reported shoplifting incident that occurred at the local Joe’s No Frills at 165 Wellington St. W. on Friday afternoon.

The suspects were found and arrested on Worsley Street on Tuesday morning.

At 3:40 p.m. Friday, two suspects entered the grocery store and selected several packaged candy products, which they put in a backpack, police say.

The suspects then left the store without paying for the items, according to police.

The male was also wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the OPP and is now in their custody to deal with that matter, Barrie police say.

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie in early July.
