TORONTO – The rise in the number of street robberies has forced Toronto police to issue a public alert.

Authorities say the crimes have occurred in the areas bound by Eglinton Avenue East, Lawrence Avenue East, Brimley Road and Markham Road.

The suspects seem to be targeting women from age 16-73 and wearing necklaces. A number of victims have also suffered minor injuries.

Police say multiple suspect descriptions were given. The suspects are described as either male, black, 19-22, 5’10″ to 6’, wearing hoodies and blue jeans or male, white, 15, medium build, possibly long hair worn in a ponytail, wearing a dark hoody.
