Explosive new trailer released for Montreal-shot ‘White House Down’

TORONTO — A new trailer for the made-in-Montreal action flick White House Down shows the U.S. capital under attack.

In the movie, which opens June 28, Channing Tatum plays Capitol Police officer John Cale, who is forced to rescue President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) when terrorists take over the White House.

The trailer shows the famous dome of the Capitol building exploding and scenes of the presidential plane Air Force One and the White House in flames.

White House Down, which also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Montreal native Rachelle Lefevre, is a CGI-loaded thriller directed by Roland Emmerich, who also made 2004’s The Day After Tomorrow in Montreal.

The movie is opening three months after the similarly-themed Olympus Has Fallen, which grossed $129 million worldwide.
