The Assiniboine Park Zoo is losing its popular Director of Zoological Operations, Tim Sinclair-Smith.
41-year old Sinclair-Smith is from Australia and has been the public face of the zoo since 2011. He is moving back down under with his wife and young child.
“It was a family decision,” said Laura Crust with the Assiniboine Park Conservancy.
Sinclair-Smith arrived in Winnipeg in 2011, kicking off $200 million dollars in upgrades to the zoo, including the Journey to Churchill exhibit.

Earlier this year, Sinclair-Smith was instrumental in bringing Hudson the polar bear to the zoo after Debby died four years ago.
Penguins will be coming to the zoo this summer.
Sinclair-Smith had a hand in creating the new animal enclosures still under construction.
Before coming to Winnipeg, He worked at the West Edmonton Mall and Calgary Zoo.
Sinclair-Smith will return home next month.
