The suspect in a hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist in Surrey late Friday night has turned himself in to police.

Surrey RCMP say the suspect presented himself to the detachment at 9 a.m. Saturday, and remains in custody.

A 53-year-old Surrey man was killed in the crash, which happened at roughly 9:40 p.m. in the area of King George Boulevard and 73 Avenue.

Police say the suspect was driving an older white pick-up truck when he struck the motorcyclist and fled the scene. The victim was thrown from his motorcycle.

King George Boulevard was closed in both directions between 72 Avenue and 74 Avenue for several hours, before reopening early Saturday morning.

Surrey RCMP are asking any witnesses or dashcam video to contact them or Crime Stoppers as the investigation continues.
