TORONTO – It’s finally arrived: spring. And it’s here to stay.
Though the calendar may have read “spring” on March 20, the weather has been anything but spring-like in the Greater Toronto Area since then. But now garden centres are starting to open, trees are finally starting to bloom and a wider variety of birds are showing themselves.
It’s been a particularly difficult spring following last year’s unusually mild weather. In Toronto, March 2012 had a mean temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius with a monthly high of 26 degrees Celsius on March 22.
This March Toronto’s mean temperature was -0.1 and its highest, 13.7. Though it’s hard to believe, however, this March’s mean temperature was still above the monthly mean of -0.4.
Looking to the week ahead, Environment Canada is forecasting mostly sunny days and temperatures around 20 degrees.
Unfortunately, not all of Ontario will experience the spring bliss – snow is forecast today for parts of Northwestern Ontario.
