Two people taken to hospital after ‘incident’ in Winnipeg’s Exchange District

WATCH: Early morning traffic was diverted around a portion of Main Street Wednesday while police investigated what they called an 'incident.' – May 1, 2019

Police were called to the Exchange District around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to investigate an “incident” involving two people.

Both people were taken hospital, however police aren’t releasing the condition of either person.

The Forensics Unit was seen gathering evidence, and officers cleaned up the scene in the taped off area.

Traffic in the area has since re-opened, after a major road closure on Main Street between Higgins and Logan avenues.

Witnesses tell Global News that they heard yelling and believed the incident involved rival gang members. Police have not confirmed any details.
