A Newfoundland man has pleaded guilty to killing his pet cat by stabbing it in the kitchen sink.
John Duff admitted the crime, saying the cat was 14 years old, elderly and obese.
Duff’s son called police last Oct. 13 to report the family cat – Oreo – was dead.
When police arrived, the deceased animal was outside the Goulds, N.L., home and officers found blood and cat fur in the kitchen sink.
A vet determined the cat died from a stab wound to its chest, likely from a single-edged blade.
The 54-year-old Duff represented himself in court Friday, pleading guilty to one count of killing or injuring an animal.
