A shooting in northeast Calgary sent a male to hospital with what were initially believed to be life-threatening injuries on Tuesday, EMS said.
A call about shots fired in the 6700 block of 43 Avenue N.E. came in just after 6:30 p.m., a spokesperson said.
The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the Temple neighbourhood before he was taken to Foothills Medical Centre, EMS confirmed.
Police later said the male was expected to survive.
EMS did not confirm the victim’s age.
Witnesses saw a vehicle drive off from the scene and shared the description with officers, police said. At around 7 p.m., a patrol officer spotted the vehicle in Foothills Industrial Park.
Initially, officers said they arrested two men without incident, but they corrected themselves at around 10:30 p.m. and said a man and girl had been arrested.
Police added that they recovered a long gun from the pair’s car.
Officers said they were not looking for any other vehicles or people.
There was no word on a motive.
