REGINA – Saskatchewan’s average weekly earnings were $941.20 in February 2013, the third highest weekly earning among the provinces.

The earning average is up 3.8% from last February, the second highest in the country.

“We’re seeing job numbers rise and unemployment numbers staying low,” Economy Minister Bill Boyd said.  “And people are able to find jobs in areas that have higher earnings like mining, oil and gas and construction.”

Boyd added that the economy in the province is helping with these numbers.

“Our economy is doing exceptionally well right now,” Boyd said.  “What is more important is that Saskatchewan people are benefitting from that economic growth, and ultimately these higher wages are contributing to a better quality of life that the hard working men and women of this province deserve.”
