London police say two people were seriously injured and a man is facing impaired driving charges in connection with a crash west of downtown London early Friday morning.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. on Springbank Drive between Duke Street and Forest Hill Avenue, near the Cove Mobile Home Park and Sales.
A black SUV with damage to its front end could be seen facing east in the road, while a silver Mini Cooper with significant damage to its passenger side door, also facing east, came to a rest on the front boulevard of a home.
Erin, a woman who lives just meters from where the crash happened, tells 980 CFPL she was watching a movie when she heard a loud bang.
“There was a bunch of commotion,” she said.
Middlesex London EMS confirmed to 980 CFPL that two people were taken to London Health Sciences Centre’s Victoria Campus Hospital.
On Friday afternoon, police reported that the injuries are serious and that the male driver is in good condition while the female passenger is in fair condition.
Police also say the male driver of the SUV was located a short distance from the scene.
A London man, 32, faces impaired driving charges in the case.
The vehicles were removed from the scene around 6:30 a.m. and the roadway reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
