People in northwest Winnipeg have another option to get help when they’re sick.
The new ACCESS NorWest opened its doors Thursday.
The centre on the corner of Burrows Avenue and Keewatin Street employs nearly 100 front line staff members including family doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and mental health professionals.

On top of basic health-care services the centre offers diabetes education, nutrition counselling, aboriginal health outreach and family violence counselling.
ACCESS NorWest cost the provincial government $4.7 million. There are plans to build 16 more ACCESS centres and QuickCare clinics over the next two years.
