Pedestrian struck and killed in collision in Sherwood Park

EDMONTON- A 46-year-old woman was struck and killed by a recycling truck, while crossing a street in Sherwood Park Wednesday morning.

The collision happened just before 10:00 a.m., at the intersection of Moreland Road and Moreland Crescent.

RCMP say the woman, who was from Sherwood Park, was walking north on Moreland Crescent when she was struck and killed by the recycling truck, which was turning west off Moreland Crescent.

An RCMP Collision Analyst along with the Strathcona County Municipal Traffic Unit continue to investigate the collision, however, police do not believe alcohol or speed were factors.

The 28-year-old male driver of the recycling truck was not injured in the collision.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Strathcona County RCMP at 780-467-7741.
