Midland man charged with impersonating a police officer

A man from Midland has been charged after allegedly impersonating a police officer in the north Simcoe area.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say officers received numerous complaints of a man operating vehicles which appeared to resemble marked and unmarked police cars.

Officers say the man would allegedly resemble a police officer and interact with the complainants in a manner suggesting he was a police officer.

Police say 27-year-old Brandon (Don) Waites from Midland has been charged with personating a peace officer, personating a peace officer using a badge, uniform or equipment and breaching a probation order.

Officers say Waites was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Midland on April 4.
