A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old woman in Chilliwack last month.

Shane Travis Hughes, 41, was arrested on March 8, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

Christine Denham was found shot in her home in the 9400 block of Victor Street around 1 p.m. on Feb. 26. She died in hospital four days later.

IHIT says Denham and Hughes knew each other and that her killing was not random.
