Attempted murder charge in Prince Albert, Sask. stabbing

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed multiple times in Prince Albert, Sask.

Police said they were called to a business in the 3600 block of 5th Avenue East Saturday morning for a report of an assault.

A man told arriving officers he was the accused and was taken into custody, police said.

Officers then located a 48-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds.

She was taken by paramedics to Victoria Hospital in stable condition.

The 57-year-old man is also charged with aggravated assault and is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert provincial court Monday morning.

Prince Albert police said the victim and accused are known to each other and the stabbing is not believed to be a random attack.
