Central Okanagan residents warned to be ready for natural disasters

As flood and forest fire seasons approach, officials with the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations are encouraging residents to be prepared.

In a news release issued Thursday morning, officials stated that the best time to prepare for an emergency is when there isn’t one.

Residents are being warned that emergency response often requires swift action often resulting in very little time to evacuate an area.

That reality makes having a prepared emergency plan and ‘grab and go’ kit even more important, officials said.

The local emergency program will also offer helpful tips and resources over the coming weeks on social media platforms, including a Facebook Live session on Friday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m.
