More than 900 children from the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board are hoping they broke a world record.
Forty schools from the Hamilton area, with students from Grades 3 to 8, played checkers simultaneously on Tuesday in the 50th annual tournament.
Organizers will be applying to be recognized as officially breaking the record, which was originally set in Reno, Nevada, in 2014, by having 540 players simultaneously play checkers.
The board is now awaiting official verification on its victory from Guinness World Records.
