A porch pirate in Nevada was captured on video stealing a 14-year-old’s cancer medicine from the front step of his family’s Las Vegas home.
Late last week, a porch thief nonchalantly made off with Gage Haynes’ potentially life-saving medicine. The teen has been battling a rare form of cancer, systemic mastocytosis, since he was six months old.
“It’s a rare form of cancer and it’s just been happening my whole life so I’m used to it,” Haynes told WKRC News. “Now, we’ve finally found a way to help it. My whole life there’s really been nothing.”

Video shows a man dressed in a plaid shirt, dark jeans and a Montreal Expos baseball cap casually walk up to the front porch with an orange and a can of pop in his hands, before picking out two packages and slowly walking away.
“Once I realized it was my son’s medication, then I got upset,” the kid’s mother, Stacey Shavinsky, told the news station.
The porch pirate took off with $40,000 worth of medication.
“I worked really hard to try and get him that,” the mother said. “I did financial assistance because it costs $40,000 a month because it’s not FDA approved for anybody under the age of 18.”
The family is pleading for the man to return the medication.

“You’re not just taking a pair of pants or a shirt,” Shavinsky said. “You’re taking something that is keeping somebody alive.”
The mother said she’s working with the pharmaceutical company that provides the medicine to get some assistance after the packages were taken.
