Durham Regional Police say an Uber driver has been charged after allegedly driving impaired with a fare in the backseat of his car in Oshawa.
Police said an officer noticed a black Mazda 5 swerving in and out of lanes, and even into oncoming traffic, on Simcoe and William streets at around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired driving under the influence of a drug.
Police said there was a customer in the car at the time. She did not suffer any injuries.

Mujib Rashidi, 36, of Ajax, was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by drug. Police said he was released on a promise to appear.
In response to the incident, an Uber spokerswoman told Global News on Wednesday that the driver was “immediately removed from the driver’s access to Uber.”
“Uber does not tolerate the use of drugs or alcohol on the app,” the statement said, adding they are cooperating with the police investigation.
