Bus service for students in the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools and Saskatoon Public Schools divisions has been cancelled Tuesday due to extreme cold.

Elementary classes in the divisions will run as scheduled.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools said its policy is to cancel bus service when the temperature, including wind chill, reaches -45 C. Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning in the Saskatoon and surrounding areas.

FirstBus and Hertz are contacting parents to inform them of route cancellations.

The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools division is asking parents to notify the school using SafeArrival if a student is not able to attend class.
