A man was taken to hospital after Centre Hastings OPP say his vehicle was struck by flying ice off a transport truck on Friday.
Around 12:30 p.m., OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 62 south of Preston Road, just nine kilometres south of Madoc, a community about 85 kilometres east of Peterborough.
OPP say ice flew off the top of a southbound transport truck which struck the windshield of a northbound pickup.
Police say the collision caused the pickup to leave the highway. The vehicle continued through a fence and collided with a steel hay feeder in a farm on the east side of the highway. The pickup truck came to a stop on its side.
Police say the transport truck continued southbound on the highway.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 64-year-old resident of Stirling, Ont., was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is encouraged to call Central Hastings OPP Detachment at 613-473-4234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
OPP say the incident is a reminder to remove snow and ice from your vehicle before driving and to brake and accelerate carefully.
