Canadian allegedly killed in Al-Shabaab terrorist attack

Since the airing of the 16×9 program “Terrorist Recruits” on April 5, reports allege that a Canadian man was killed in a bloody attack in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu on Sunday. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack – an attack that some are calling the bloodiest of its kind in years.

The remains of a Toronto man, Mahad Ali Dhore were identified at the site of the bombing. Dore lived in a North York high rise building, near York University where he attended school. And, like several of the men identified in “Terrorist Recruits”, Dhore also attended the Abu Huraira mosque in North Toronto.

16×9 asked the RCMP for comment on the attack and was provided with this statement:

“The RCMP is aware there are media reports linking a Canadian to terrorist attacks in Mogadishu. We cannot provide specific details but are working with relevant domestic and international partners to gather information. We have nothing further to provide at this time.”
