Much of Manitoba is waking up to a white blanket of snow Monday morning.
Environment Canada said Winnipeggers saw 10 cm of snowfall overnight, due to a low pressure system that developed in Alberta.
Snow plows began clearing streets at 11 p.m. Sunday evening, according to Michael Cantor, Manager of Streets and Maintenance for the City of Winnipeg.
Cantor says snow plows target main streets first, such as Bishop Grandin Boulevard to alleviate rush hour traffic.

According to a schedule on the city of Winnipeg website, residential snow plowing will start Wednesday.
A snow route parking ban is now in effect, however, it starts at midnight, not the usual 2 a.m.

According to Environment Canada, more snow is expected Monday night beginning around midnight.
The wind is expected to reach 40-60 km/h in Winnipeg, bringing in a cold front from North West winds.
According to the province’s website, many highways are completely snow covered.
Overnight the Winnipeg airport said they experienced taxi delays while getting passengers to the airport.
There have been no other weather related flight cancellations or delays, according to Tyler Macafee of the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
The large dump of snow has also caused some school closures in Manitoba.
