Durham Regional Police say three teenagers were seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision in Whitby.
Officers responded at around 10 a.m. to Winchester Road between Baldwin and Princess Street in the Brooklin area.
Investigators said at the time that one person was trapped in a vehicle. Emergency crews had to rescue all three teens from the vehicle.
One teen has been taken to a trauma hospital in Toronto via air ambulance while the other two teens were transported to a local hospital.
Police spokesperson Const. George Tudos said both vehicles were driving east when one appears to have collided into a bridge.
“It looks like the one vehicle, which sustained the extensive damages, struck the bridge as it came over Winchester.”
He said police will continue looking into the damages to piece together exactly what happened during the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
