Lucas will play the slave of Browning’s character Flavia in the movie, which is set in the days leading up to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius and follows a Naples-bound slave as he struggles to get home to save his gladiator friend and the woman he loves.

Lucas, 27, appeared in the feature film Cloverfield and had a starring role in the short-lived reboot of TV’s Melrose Place.

Lucas and Sutherland are not the only Canadian stars involved in Pompeii — Hamilton, Ont. native Currie Graham and Vancouver’s Carrie-Anne Moss are also in the cast.
