KELOWNA — Officials say the program is producing results as the seventh egg addling program gets underway in the Okanagan.
The program is aimed at reducing the number of non-migratory geese in the Valley.
Most of the birds are descendants of geese that were introduced to the Okanagan Valley in the 1960’s and 70’s.

The birds have thrived in numbers to thBe point where they’ve become a nuisance and health hazard.
Since the egg addling program was introduced in 2007, officials say more than 7,500 eggs have been prevented from hatching. Officials estimate that, minus the mortality rate, those eggs would have produced approximately 5,800 geese.
The egg addling program involves shaking eggs or coating them with non-toxic biodegradable food-grade corn oil within 14 days of incubation to make them non-viable.
