Indian Head RCMP responded to the call at 7 a.m. and said at the time of the collision roads were “very hazardous.” Two semis hit the south ditch and the third semi blocked the passing lane of the westbound side of Highway 1.

“One semi was heading westbound and was attempting to pass (a semi truck) and came upon another semi going at a slower speed. (The other semi that) moved into the right lane ended up jack-knifing, and the semi that was in the right driving lane hit that semi,” Indian Head RCMP Corporal Derek Friesen said.

“Weather did play a factor; the left lane was icy and the driver was going too fast for road conditions.”

There are no reported injuries.

Indian Head RCMP say one of the semi-truck drivers involved in the crash has been charged with one count of driving too fast for road conditions.

RCMP expect there to be delays in the area until early afternoon.
