It was the result the Lethbridge Fish & Game Association had been hoping for.
After a lengthy discussion at city hall on Tuesday evening, city council voted against a proposal that would have forced the organization to hire additional security at its shooting range, as well as relocate the site by 2016.

Range members waited over four hours to hear the resolution, which was defeated by a 6-3 vote.
Councillor Faron Ellis brought the proposal forward, citing safety infractions and a decades-old plan to move the range by 2016.
If the resolution had passed, the range could have been shut down if not relocated by December 31, 2016.
Range officials say they’re relieved at the decision and are only looking forward to the future, which includes an $18-million capital funding request to help relocate the range and add programming over the next 12 years.
