Vernon crash claims another life

A head-on crash last weekend near Vernon has claimed another victim.

The crash happened  last Sunday on Highway 97 near the Bailey Road turn-off, north of Vernon where a northbound Chevrolet pick-up truck crossed the centre line before colliding with a southbound Volvo station wagon.

The 19 year-old passenger in the pick-up died at the scene.  The 21-year-old driver remains in hospital.

The 70-year-old driver of the Volvo also died at the scene.  The unidentified man was from Salmon Arm.

On Tuesday, police confirmed that the man’s 67-year-old wife who was sitting in the passenger seat has also died of her injuries.

Police are withholding all names.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation but police have ruled out alcohol.
