Ottawa police arrested a woman after a stolen commercial truck smashed into a downtown building on Queen Street on Thursday afternoon, leaving a 70-year-old pedestrian injured.
The pedestrian was treated on scene for minor injuries and then taken to hospital, Const. Chuck Benoit said.
The collision occurred around noon. It appears the front right side of truck hit the entrance to 133 Queen St. and the right corner of the adjacent Starbucks cafe, located between Metcalfe and O’Connor streets.
That section of Queen Street is currently under heavy construction and is closed to most traffic.
The truck, which appears to belong to workwear service company UniFirst, was reportedly stolen not far from where it was crashed.
Benoit said police haven’t laid any charges at this time.
