WINNIPEG – Former Blue Bomber Obby Khan has once again agreed to help out the Manitoba Bisons football program as an associate coach working with the club’s offensive linemen.
This will be the second year that the nine-year CFL veteran has been a part of Bison head coach Brian Dobie’s staff.
A year ago, after his release by the Blue Bombers, Khan thought his football playing career was over. But the Calgary Stampeders needed some experience and insurance along their offensive line and Khan left the Bisons to make another run at a Grey Cup with the Stampeders.

While the Stamps released Khan just last month they are still interested in having him back with them for the 2013 season as a backup O-lineman. But Khan is too busy to commit at this time after having just opened his downtown Winnipeg restaurant Shawarma Khan in January. He will have two kiosks at the new Investors Group Field where the Blue Bombers will play this season.

Because he’s been busy with his business Khan isn’t ready to return to the field as a player. He just went back to training this week and says while his body weight of 285 pounds is fine, he has lost muscle volume. But give him a month or two and he says he’ll be ready if a CFL team is still interested. If not, Khan is 100 per cent committed to lending his experience to Brian Dobie’s staff with the Bisons.
