Pierrefonds residents evacuated from homes during police operation

A security perimeter was erected on Thorndale Street in Pierrefonds and homes were evacuated as part of a police operation Wednesday night.

Montreal police said they responded to a call related to a domestic dispute as part of an ongoing investigation with Saint-Jérôme police.

Jean-Pierre Brabant, a police spokesperson, said the suspect was not armed but up to 12 residents were asked to leave a home on the street as a precautionary measure.

Brabant said police were in contact with the suspect throughout the operation.

The man surrendered around midnight and was handed over to Saint-Jérôme police.
