REGINA – New changes to Saskatchewan’s Residential Tenancies Act will enhance the rental rights of seniors in the province.

Effective today, seniors living in retirement homes, retirement communities and independent living facilities that provide meals to residents over the age of 55 will be able to resolve disputes through the rentalsman.

The government says this levels the playing field by outlining the legal rights and obligations of both landlords and residents and brings the province in line with the rest of the country.

Special care homes and personal care homes are still exempt as those are licensed by the Ministry of Health.
