British Columbia-based brewer Bowen Island Brewing is recalling two types of beer because of a problem with the cans.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said the cans have defective seams that may have sharp metal sticking out from the rim.
The affected cans of Bowen Island brews are Artisan IPA and West Coast Lager and are sold in six-packs in Alberta and B.C.
The Artisan IPA cans have codes starting with L18207, L18187, or L18215 and the West Coast Lager cans have codes that begin with L18207.
Northam Beverages, the beer’s producer, initiated the recall because some cans were not properly seamed and may have sharp metal sticking out from the rim.
The BC Liquor Distribution Branch has told all private retailers, hospitality customers and BC Liquor Stores to remove the product from shelves.
The CFIA said anyone with the recalled beer should throw it out or return it to the store where purchased.
The federal agency said it has not received any reports of injuries linked to these products.
