Langley man charged in ‘serious’ Monte Lake assault

A golf club and a machete were involved in what police are calling a serious assault in Monte Lake, B.C., this past weekend.

Vernon RCMP say they were called to the 3900-block of Highway 97 in Monte Lake in regards to an altercation between two men on Saturday morning. Police say the fight escalated, with both men being transported to hospital for treatment.

Police say one man sustained a serious injury and remains in hospital.

The other man, 43-year-old Jody Archie York, of Langley, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Police added that the victim was camping in the area with friends and did not know the suspect.
