UPDATE: Crews determine cause of fire at Bubba’s food truck in south Edmonton

EDMONTON- Crews have determined an unattended heating element was to blame, after a popular south Edmonton food truck caught fire Thursday evening.

Bubba’s BBQ and Smoke House, located at 49th Avenue and Gateway Boulevard, caught fire around 8:00p.m.

Firefighters say Bubba’s, which is known for its chicken and ribs, was empty at the time it caught fire.

The fire was contained to the truck and it took crews about 15 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Gateway Boulevard was shut down to just one lane of traffic as crews fought the fire, Thursday evening.

Damage is estimated to be around $125,000. Crews say the owners did not have insurance.
