Following a short work week, you should be well rested and ready to take advantage of a host of entertaining options available in the Waterloo region this weekend.
The following is a list of some of the activities you can find throughout the tri-cities.
Kitchener Blues Festival
The event kicks off Thursday night with a benefit concert to help pay for the festival. Thousands are expected to attend the more than 80 performances which will take place at spots throughout the weekend in downtown Kitchener.
The lineup includes the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Sass Jordan and Lee Aaron.

Cambridge Rotary Rib
The three-day food festival will see six different barbecuers vie to be the king of Cambridge ribs. The event will also offer live music and a kid’s zone.
Last year’s award winners, Boss Hogg’s and Billy Bones, return to defend their titles.

Kitchener Panthers playoffs
Now in their 100th season, the Kitchener Panthers will host Game 2 of their playoff series vs. the Brantford Red Sox on Friday at Jack Couch Park.
The series was slated to kick off on Wednesday in Kitchener but the opener was rained out and will take place Thursday night in Brantford.
The action gets underway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
Big Splash Night Bash
The waterpark at Bingemans will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday night for the Big Splash Night Bash.
The event boasts drink specials, a live band, draw prizes and more.

Waterloo artist in residence at Waterloo Park
There will be two special events at Waterloo Park this weekend involving Waterloo Artists in Residence Denise St Marie and Timothy Walker.
On Saturday, the pair will host a kite-making exhibition where guests will be able to make their own kite from a template.
On Sunday, the pair are holding a words and phrases scavenger hunt. St Marie and Walker will hide words and phrases throughout the park which parkgoers will be encouraged to find and add to an ongoing text artwork.

Tri-city double header
If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary on Sunday, there will be a pair of bouts involving local roller derby teams at Moses Springer Arena in Waterloo.
The Venus Fly Tramps will take on the Niagara Roller Girls at 5 p.m. followed by a showdown between the Vicious Dishes and the Roller Derby Misfits, who are out of Woodstock.
